Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas extends his heartfelt congratulations to the barangay LGUs of Buyacaoan in Buguias, Gadang in Kapangan, Poblacion in Kibungan, Alapang in La Trinidad, Bulalacao in Mankayan, and Camp 4 in Tuba for their excellent governance performance reflected in the recent result of the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangay (SGLGB) conducted by the DILG.
3 MEN WHO RETURNED TO THE FOLD OF LAW RECEIVE CASH AID
Three men who left their armed struggle and went back to the government fold received cash assistance from the government, which they will use to start a livelihood as they renew their lives with their family. Two of them are from Kalinga while the other one is from Cavite. Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas through his executive assistant David Cabuten extended his gratitude to the three men for deciding to return to their families and live peacefully.He also thanked the Philippine National Police (PNP), DILG Benguet, Provincial Social Welfare Development Office (PSWDO), and other partner agencies for working closely with the local government in implementing programs against insurgency. Meanwhile, the three expressed their gratitude for the assistance they received from the government. “Jay inad-adal mi ijay uneg nga jay ibagbaga da nga bulok nga sistema, haan gayam nga agpayso ta makitkita tayo dagiti [programa] nga ipatpatungpal ti gobyerno,” stated one of them. The turn-over of the financial assistance was led by the Provincial LGU; General Krishnamurti Mortela, 702nd Brigade commander; DILG Benguet led by outgoing Provincial Director (PD) Rufina Fegcan and incoming PD Regina Elizabeth Mammag; Benguet PPO headed by PD Reynaldo DR Pasiwen represented by PLTCol Cleff Vencio and PLTCol Dominga Terrado; and PSWDO.
IMPLEMENTATION OF “VEST ORDINANCE” SUSPENDED | Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas issued an order suspending the implementation of Ordinance No. 2022-302, an ordinance issued by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan requiring all drivers and riders motorcycle, tricycle, e-bike, and bicycle to wear high visibility vest while travelling along the national highway and in all provincial, municipal, and barangay roads within the province of Benguet, pending its amendments.

Pending the approval of the request of the Province of Benguet for the amendment of RA 7672, an act declaring June 18 of every year as special non-working public holiday in the Province of Benguet, June 18, 2022 (Saturday) remains a special non-working day. On June 18, 2022, we commemorate the 56th year since the separation of Benguet as sub-province of then Mountain Province.

The Local Government of Buguias received P60,000.00 cash prize after the town’s entry for the 2022 road beautification contest of the Provincial Government of Benguet bested 11 other entries from the different municipalities in the province. Coming second with P55,000.00 cash prize is Bakun while Tuba took home P50,000.00 cash prize after settling for third place. Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas congratulated the winners and all the participants for their continued support for the Provincial LGU’s effort for a safer and cleaner environment by their active participation in the Road Beautification Program which is not only a competition but more so as an avenue to strengthen people’s culture of unity toward the preservation, protection, and promotion of a healthy environment. The road beautification activity is an annual program of the Provincial Tourism Office which according to Provincial Chief Tourism Officer Eleazar Carias aims at encouraging every Benguet town to clean and beautify the road sides in their areas of jurisdiction by planting flowers, shrubs and other decorative plants to highlight the identity of their municipality. Carias added that the program is also supporting the Dengue Prevention and Control Program of the DOH “as it emphasizes on the clean-up drive along the roadside to help eliminate mosquito-breeding areas and prevent the possible surge [in] dengue cases.”
600 Meters Road Sections Along Buyagan-Wangal-Banengbeng Provincial Road Improved

ROAD SECTIONS with an aggregate length of over 600 meters along Buyagan-Wangal-Banengbeng provincial road were constructed with road shoulders to help reduce passing conflicts between motor vehicles and pedestrians as well as to provide space for bicyclists to ride at their own pace. This includes the construction of a retaining wall and a barrier along a 45-meter section in Banengbeng to prevent vehicular accidents. Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas has earlier allocated P5 million for this project as part of the administration’s effort in providing easy and safe road access. IN PHOTO: Joint inspection activity by the Provincial Engineering Office and the Provincial Project Monitoring Committee to assess the quality of the project. Necessary recommendations were given to the construction firm for their appropriate action.
