Mascariñas, Commanding Officer of the 5th Civil-Military Operations Battalion, Civil-Military Operations Regiment, Philippine Army, highlighted the 10th anniversary of the 2016 Arbitral Ruling on the West Philippine Sea during the flag-raising ceremony at the Benguet Provincial Capitol on Monday, July 13.![]()

Mascariñas said the landmark decision reaffirmed the sovereign rights of the Philippines under international law and emphasized the importance of maintaining a rules-based international order.![]()

He called on government officials, employees, security forces, and the public to uphold the rule of law, protect the maritime domain of the country, and preserve peace for present and future generations.![]()

Mascariñas said the milestone also reaffirmed the duty of the Philippine Army to protect the Filipino people, uphold the sovereign rights of the country, and strengthen territorial defense.![]()
