Endorsement for Reclassification of Benguet to a Lower Community Quarantine Status

Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas endorses to Secretary Francisco Duque III the resolution issued by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan requesting for the reclassification of Benguet to a lower community quarantine status from its current Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) status which will lapse on June 15, 2021. Later in May, it can be recalled that Governor Diclas sent a request letter to the National IATF requesting the same. The province, meanwhile, has been strengthening its campaign on strict implementation of preventive measures against CoVID-19 leading to the continuous decrease of confirmed positive cases.

Fight Dengue

In support to the DOH’s fight against Dengue, Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas issued an advisory recommending all Aksyon Barangay Kontra Dengue (ABKD) in all municipalities in Benguet to be activated, and a mechanism to inform/remind the citizens in the locality of the 4’oclock habit (habitual search and destroy mosquito breeding sites) should be reinstated (e.g. use of siren, bell, horn etc.). As of June 7, 2021, Benguet has already recorded 242 cases with one death case as compared to 233 cases of the same period last year.

PARTNERSHIP with POPCOM-CAR

Commission on Population Cordillera Administrative Region (POPCOM-CAR) Regional Director Magdalena Abellera assisted by Mr. Elmer De Guzman paid a courtesy visit to Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas to discuss further development in the province of Benguet as POP-COM continues its effort to empower Filipino families. Funds from POPCOM for population programs in Benguet was also discussed.

441 CDWs Receive Cash Assistance

The Provicial Government of Benguet led by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas through the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Ms. Juana Bannawe has recently distributed P2.205M as assistance to some 441 Child Development Workers (CDWs) in the province.

Each of the beneficiaries received P5,000.

Governor Diclas recognized the sacrifices of the CDWs in the implementation of different programs in the province for continuous learning among children in spite of the challenges brought by the CoVID-19 pandemic.
He also recognized how important the role of the CDWs is in shaping young children, especially that they are in a crucial stage of growth and development.


The said assistance used to be given to each CDW every other year, but through the initiative of Governor Diclas having witnessed the hardships of CDWs, it was made yearly.
Meanwhile, the OPSWD led by Ms. Bannawe has been monitoring the progress of the different programs for social welfare and development in the province to ensure the success of their implementation.

Aid to Benguet Farmers

Benguet Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas and Vice Mayor Roderick Awingan together with Provincial Agriculturist Lolita Bentres today led the distribution of cash assistance to some 35 farmers in Bineng, La Trinidad, Benguet whose crops were damaged during the onslaught of typhoon Ulysses in November 2020. They are among the 345 beneficiaries of the said financial assistance in the whole province. Each farmer received P10,000.
