Arnold Corisay, a farmer in Taloy Norte, is happy to hear about the completion of the improvement project on Taloy-Bacsayan Provincial Road in Tuba saying he and other farmers will now be able to transport their produce without worrying about the poor and risky condition of the road. Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas last year allocated P3 million for the construction of retaining walls and concrete barriers along slide prone areas including road shoulders on narrow sections of the said provincial road in response to the needs of the locals.The project was implemented by the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO) and was completed last May 21. 

 Taloy Norte Barangay Captain Joel Pacio acknowledged the importance of the said project saying it truly addresses one of the major concerns of their residents especially during rainy days. Most of the residents here are farmers. Corisay said around 300 families of farmers will benefit from the newly completed project. Meanwhile, the Taloy-Bacsayan Provincial Road also serves as an alternate route for motorists passing through the Bayacsan section of the Marcos highway as it connects to the BLISTT road branching off the Marcos highway leading to San Pascual

Support for Farmers!

A farmer group in Lusod, Kabayan, Benguet received five tractors from the Provincial Governor’s Office as assistance for their farming business.

Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas said the farmer beneficiaries who form the Lusod Agrarian Reform Community Multi-Purpose Cooperative received the donation following the review and approval of their proposal.

Further, Julie Tabcao, Provincial Labor and Employment Officer, said the funds were sourced out from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) as a fruit of the partnership between the agency and the LGU.

Support for Fruit & Veggie Processing Skills Training

The Municipal LGU of Bakun has recently received P86K worth of equipment from the Provincial Governor’s Office headed by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas in the support of the LGU’s program for fruit and vegetable processing skills trainings.
 
Governor Diclas approved over P1 million funds for the procurement of various fruit and veggie processing equipment to be used by the different municipal LGUs for their skills training aimed at boosting the livelihood of the locals. // SAP Jr.

15 Rolls of hose donated to Barangay Kamog in Sablan

To help ensure continuous water supply for residents in Barangay Kamog in Sablan, Benguet especially farmers, the Provincial Governor’s Office headed by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas donated 15 rolls of hose which the community requested through their barangay LGU to help address the water shortage problem in the locality.
 
The Provincial LGU has also been funding ang implementing numerous irrigation projects in the different towns of Benguet in a bid to uplift the livelihood of the farmers. // SAP Jr.

May 26, 2022 - 2 More Rebels Surrender to PNP

Two more members of the Militia ng Bayan abandoned their armed struggle and returned to the folds of the law. The two formally surrendered their firearms and explosives Thursday morning at the Governor’s Office with Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas, Benguet PPO Provincial Director PCOL Reynaldo DR Pasiwen, and representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Governor Diclas also turned over some goods as assistance to the ex-members of the Militia ng Bayan as they start their lives anew. They will also be receiving aid from the government under the enhanced comprehensive local integration program after their profiling and assessment of the firearms they surrendered. Earlier this year, three former rebels also surrendered to the PNP. Governor Diclas thanked the Philippine National Police (PNP) for their commendable effort in maintaining peace in the community

Five sections along the Aguyod-Lebbeng barangay road in Tadiangan, Tuba, Benguet have recently been improved by the Provincial Government of Benguet through the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO). Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas said they allocated P2 million to widen and construct barriers and slope protections on five identified portions of the said road to ensure the safety of motorists. These road sections were narrow and slide-prone. 

Barangay officials of Tadiangan also said the strong rushing of water from a stream that crosses a portion of the road during heavy rains was among the concerns of motorists. To address this problem, a catchment basin and a reinforced concrete pipe canal were constructed as part of the road improvement project. The project is now serving around 1,181 residents from sitios Aguyad, Gangeb, Tangki, Lebbeng, and Tadiangan proper according to Barangay Kagawad Jeffrey Esperitu. Most of the residents in the community are farmers, he added.Products mostly produced by the farmers are Baguio beans and cucumber. Meanwhile, Kag. Esperitu said a road opening project extending the barangay road until Topinao, Poblacion, Tuba has been proposed as part of the barangay’s priority projects in a bid to provide more access for the community.// SAP Jr.

NEWLY IMPROVED FMR FOR TALOY SUR, TUBA

Farmers and residents in Tawalan and Andil in barangay Taloy Sur, Tuba are now reaping benefits from a recently improved 246-meter farm-to-market road (FMR) in their locality.


Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas said the improvement project along Tawalan-Andil FMR was already completed last April after four months since the day of its implementation.


The P2-million project funded and implemented by the Provincial LGU is part of the HEALTHIER Benguet agenda of the present administration headed by Governor Diclas.// SAP JR.

ACCESS ROAD IN NAGUEY, ATOK

The first phase of the construction of an access road toward the barangay hall and barangay clinic of Naguey, Atok has been inspected following its completion early this month. The project was considered by the Provincial Government of Benguet headed by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas in response to the needs of the residents in the said barangay. Engineers from the Provincial LGU have already conducted inspection for the construction of the project’s second phase which, once implemented and completed, will provide the people of Naguey easy access to the barangay’s government facilities. // SAP Jr.
