The Provincial Government of Benguet led by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas recognized athletes and other sports icons, executives and enthusiasts in the Cordillera region who made significant contributions in the world of sports, during the Benguet CARES or Cordillera Athletic Recognition for Excellence in Sports Awards program in Baguio City on April 22, 2022.12 individuals were given major awards while 24 athletes in 12 different sport disciplines were given citations. Major awards include the Athlete of the Year, Hall of Fame, Lifetime Achievement Award, Sportsman of the Year, Coach of the Year, Executive of the Year, Young Sports Achiever of the Year, and four posthumous awards. More photos: https://bit.ly/BenguetCares

The Provincial Government of Benguet headed by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas named the first winners of the “Dad-at Award” (short story writer), “Ba-diw Award” (poet), and “Essayist of the Year Award”. Out of 19 Benguet young writers who passed the application and thorough screening of the BIYAG Creative Writing committee for the first BIYAG Creative Writing Workshop held in Sablan, Benguet on April 26-27, top three finalists for each category (poetry, short story, and essay) were picked based on the literary pieces they submitted to the speakers at the end of the workshop.

5 Socmed Local Influencers Win 2022 Biyag Awards

The Provincial Government of Benguet headed by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas recognized five social media local influencers in the province during the closing program of the Benguet Indigenous Youth Arts Guild (BIYAG) festival at the Ben Palispis Auditorium on April 29, 2022.
 
The five local influencers won in the different categories of the 2022 Social Media Influencer Awards which is part of the celebration of the 2022 BIYAG Festival.
Out of the many socmed local influencers nominated through the BIYAG official Facebook page and email, top three finalists per category were chosen by the 2022 BIYAG Youth Academy to join the awarding ceremony.

Meanwhile, a special citation award was given to Jordan Ayawan for his viral BENECO photo in Leyte.
 
This is the first awarding ceremony for social media local influencers held in the province.
Governor Diclas said the LGU recognizes the contributions of the young local influencers in promoting Benguet culture and tourism, good values, as well as spreading good vibes and inspiration. To keep them inspired and motivated in their endeavors, Governor Diclas said the awarding will be part of the yearly activities of the BIYAG Festival. // SAP Jr.
