Strengthening UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE in BENGUET 4

BENGUET PLGU, ZUELLIG, INC., DOH SIGN MOU FOR UHC IMPLEMENTATION

The Provincial Government of Benguet, Led by Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas, the Department of Health Cordillera Center for Health and Development (DOH CHD), represented by Dr. Ferdinand M. Benbenen, Director IV, and Zuellig Family Foundation (ZFF), Inc., through Dr. Manuel M. Dayrit, Chairman of the Board, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the Bayang Malusog Leadership and Governance Program (BMLGP), in an effort to strengthen Primary health care and further advance the Universal Health Care (UHC) Act.

Held on Monday, March 24, after the Flag Raising Ceremony at the Provincial Capitol, it aims to build stronger local health systems, empower local leaders, and contribute to the national health agenda of achieving better health outcomes by ensuring accessible and quality healthcare services for all.

Governor Diclas expressed his gratitude to the ZFF, Inc. and DOH-CAR for the partnership, while underscoring that it will enable the province to deliver services even to the most remote areas, resulting to inclusive growth and better healthcare for everyone.

On the other hand, Dr. Dayrit highlighted that UHC is a complex undertaking which requires the efforts among government and non-government organizations to achieve its goal of strengthening primary care level, referral system and others.

He also said that the Provincial Government of Benguet plays a leading role in achieving UHC, while expressing his hope to see Benguet takes its place as a frontrunner for healthcare in the country.

Meanwhile, Regional Director Benbenen also thanked Benguet through the leadership of Governor Diclas for the all-out support in all the programs of DOH.

Also witnessing the ceremonial signing were Dr. Catherine Chung of ZFF, Inc., Dr. Mercedes S. Calpito of Provincial DOH Office, Mr. Noland G. Sabling of Benguet LHIO, Dr. Meliarazon Dulay, Dr. Jocelyn Legaspi, and Dr. Andrew Chamson Bacuso of Provincial Health Office, and representatives from Kibungan and Kapangan.
