FINANCIAL AID PROGRAM CONTINUES TO ASSIST INDIGENT RESIDENTS IN MEDICAL, BURIAL EXPENSES

The Provincial Government of Benguet under the leadership of Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas has recently distributed cash aid to a total of 57 indigent residents from different municipalities, as part of its continuous support to the most vulnerable members of the community.

This initiative falls under the Assistance for Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program which is aimed at alleviating the financial burden of medical and burial expenses for those in need.

Governor Diclas personally led the distribution and expressed his commitment to strengthening the program and ensuring a steady flow of funds to assist indigent residents particularly with their medical needs. Under his leadership, the program has undergone improvements providing more aid to those facing challenging circumstances.

In the past, beneficiaries were limited to receiving P5,000.00 for medical expenses, but with Governor Diclas’ initiative, the assistance cap has been increased to P20,000.00 to help in addressing the rising costs of healthcare and ensuring that residents receive adequate support during times of crisis.

Moreover, Governor Diclas has made it possible for beneficiaries to apply for aid on an annual basis which now allows individuals to access the program whenever they require assistance, compared before when clients were only given three availments per lifetime.

Residents in need of financial assistance through the AICS program are encouraged to seek assistance from the Office of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (OPSWD) located on the 1st Floor of the Provincial Capitol.

Meanwhile, Governor Diclas has been allocating more funds for the improvement of the capacity of different healthcare facilities in the Province to help cater to more residents accessing government health facilities.

NAGASAT KEN NARAGSAK NGA BARO NGA TAWEN KAKAILIYAN NGA IBENGUET

As we welcome 2024, may we be reminded of God’s word in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

This gives us hope that His plans for our Province, our communities are filled with hope, welfare, and a promising future.

In the spirit of ‘binnadang,’ let us continue to strengthen our camaraderie as we build our relationship and togetherness even tighter. Truly, unity breeds strength, warmth, and support. May we carry this culture forward as we face various challenges and victories in the coming years.

Our character of humility as iBenguet is one of the foundations of our identity. It is our hope that we continue to treasure and perpetuate this value to invigorate understanding, empathy, and cooperation among us as we pursue more progress and development in our community.

Also among the values that define our cultural identity are respect and hard work. May these principles guide us as we step into the new year. We may face different challenges along the way, but always remember to draw strength from our shared values of trust, understanding, and treating one another with dignity and respect.

Let all these values which were safeguarded and passed down to us by our forefathers be reflected among us as we tread the path toward a better and HEALTHIER Benguet.

May 2024 give everyone more success, more happiness, and good health. Happy New Year!
