BENGUET RECORDS 89 NEW DENGUE CASES, 1 DEATH IN ITOGONThe Provincial Health Office recorded 89 new dengue cases in Benguet from July 5 to 11, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 1,055 from January 4 to July 11, 2026.Data from the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit showed that the total remains four percent lower than the 1,097 cases recorded during the same period in 2025.The Provincial Health Office also confirmed one dengue-related death involving a 24-year-old man from Itogon who succumbed to dengue hemorrhagic fever.Itogon continued to record the highest number of dengue cases with 370, followed by Atok with 173 and Tuba with 157.Health data also showed that Atok posted a 302 percent increase in dengue cases compared to the same period last year when only 43 cases were recorded.Tuba also registered a 214 percent increase from 50 cases reported during the same period in 2025.The Provincial Health Office advised residents to seek immediate medical consultation at the nearest health facility if they experience early symptoms of dengue, including high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, joint and muscle pain, nausea, vomiting, and skin rashes.Meanwhile, Governor Dr. Melchor D. Diclas urged the public to remain vigilant during the rainy season by eliminating mosquito breeding sites in their communities and strictly observing the 4S Strategy Kontra Dengue of the Department of Health.The governor also reminded residents to practice the 4Ts by regularly Taob, Taktak, Tuyo, and Takip to remove stagnant water where mosquitoes breed, use protective measures such as long-sleeved clothing and insect repellents, seek early medical consultation when symptoms appear, and support fogging or spraying operations during outbreaks to help prevent the spread of dengue. ...
