Barangay Road in Tuba Improved for Safety and Easy Access
Five sections along the Aguyod-Lebbeng barangay road in Tadiangan, Tuba, Benguet have recently been improved by the Provincial Government of Benguet through the Provincial Engineering Office (PEO). Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas said they allocated P2 million to widen and construct barriers and slope protections on five identified portions of the said road to ensure the safety of motorists. These road sections were narrow and slide-prone. Barangay officials of Tadiangan also said the strong rushing of water from a stream that crosses a portion of the road during heavy rains was among the concerns of motorists. To address this problem, a catchment basin and a reinforced concrete pipe canal were constructed as part of the road improvement project. The project is now serving around 1,181 residents from sitios Aguyad, Gangeb, Tangki, Lebbeng, and Tadiangan proper according to Barangay Kagawad Jeffrey Esperitu. Most of the residents in the community are farmers, he added.Products mostly produced by the farmers are Baguio beans and cucumber. Meanwhile, Kag. Esperitu said a road opening project extending the barangay road until Topinao, Poblacion, Tuba has been proposed as part of the barangay’s priority projects in a bid to provide more access for the community.// SAP Jr.
